3f:T6ff,

I used to think building mobile apps was all about the idea.

So I kept doing the same thing:

Build an app
Publish it
Wait
Get disappointed
Move on to the next idea

I did this more times than I want to admit.

The apps were not terrible. Some were actually useful. But they had one big problem:

Nobody knew they existed.

This time, I decided to treat the app like a business instead of a side project.

I picked a niche I actually cared about: travel.

I love travelling, planning trips, finding places, saving spots, and making the whole experience easier. So instead of trying to build “an app for everyone,” I focused on people like me.

The first version was simple.

Not perfect.
Not packed with features.
Not some huge startup-level product.

Just a useful mobile app that solved one clear travel problem.

But the real difference was what I did after launching.

I started marketing before I felt ready.

I posted short videos.
I shared behind-the-scenes updates.
I talked about the problem, not just the app.
I tested different hooks.
I improved the App Store screenshots.
I rewrote the description many times.
I asked users what confused them.
I tracked what actually converted.

At first, nothing happened.

Then a few downloads came in.

Then a few paid users.

Then I noticed one video brought in more traffic than everything else.

So I made more content around that angle.

That was the moment things changed.

The app slowly grew to $1k MRR.

Then $2k.

Then $4k.

And recently it passed $6k MRR.

The biggest lesson?

The app was only half the product.

The other half was distribution.
