Connect data systems, query via plain English, and run apps

Databasin is a data platform designed to bridge the gap between underlying corporate data systems and the business users who need answers. Originating inside an academic medical center, the software consolidates external databases, SaaS applications, and operational files into an open data architecture, removing reliance on constant manual exports and analyst backlogs.
Rather than requiring analysts to rebuild dashboards or write custom SQL for every request, Databasin allows team members to query their business systems using plain English. The platform writes the corresponding SQL queries, runs them against clean, modeled tables, and provides visualizations alongside the underlying code so numbers can be independently audited and verified.
Databasin stores information in open Apache Iceberg and Delta Lake table formats while powering queries through Databasin Sail, an engine written in Rust on Apache DataFusion. It lets users interact through conversational agents, automated background checks, and dynamic applications that update without breaking when vendor data models drift.
Databasin serves operational teams and data engineers who want to unify sources without locking up reports behind expensive seat licenses.
Databasin runs on a Freemium structure with usage-based billing per minute and no seat license fees. New accounts receive a $50 credit without requiring a credit card. Paid usage is metered across five clear tiers: Pipeline and Automation Runtimes cost $5.00 per hour ($0.083 per minute); AI Tokens for natural language interactions cost $15 per 1 million tokens ($0.015 per 1,000 tokens); Lakehouse Compute with the Sail engine starts at $1.82 per hour for XSmall nodes (or $0.27 per hour for Sail ready standby mode) scaling up to $31.55 per hour for XLarge; and lakehouse storage costs $24 per TB per month. Databasin can also be deployed directly into a private Azure tenant.
Unlike Fivetran or CData, which only handle data movement, Databasin provides its own compute engine, conversational query interface, and front-end application builder.
Compared to traditional BI stacks like Power BI and Tableau, Databasin allows business users to generate live reports and modify layouts using text instructions, without demanding individual paid seats for every viewer.
Are there per-seat fees for additional team members?
No. Databasin does not charge for seat licenses. You can invite as many users as needed, and billing is based strictly on storage, AI tokens, and active compute minutes.
Can Databasin handle sensitive healthcare data?
Yes. The platform was created inside an academic medical center to handle protected health information. It is HIPAA-ready and offers Business Associate Agreements (BAAs).
