TryPSL

What is TryPSL?

TryPSL is a web-based face analysis tool that calculates a personal rating based on the informal PSL scale. Stemming from online aesthetics and looksmaxxing communities, the PSL system evaluates facial aesthetics using geometric proportions rather than arbitrary ratings. The platform bridges the gap between subjective forum opinions and objective measurements by identifying key facial markers directly from a portrait photograph.

The application solves the problem of subjective and inconsistent face ratings by using an automated formula that tracks 478 distinct facial coordinates. Instead of requiring users to post photos publicly to internet message boards, the platform provides private measurements directly in the browser. It maps structure, proportions, and symmetries against standardized metrics to generate a numerical rating from 1.0 to 8.0.

TryPSL takes a privacy-first approach for its core assessment. For the free baseline test, the image stays on the local device, and only mathematical landmark coordinates are transmitted to calculate scores. The platform provides transparency into how the final calculation is formed, showing individual metrics across facial harmony, symmetry, angularity, and dimorphism rather than displaying an unexplained number.

Who is it for?

TryPSL is built for individuals interested in personal grooming, facial aesthetics, and objective self-assessment.

• Adults seeking an objective analysis of facial symmetry and facial landmarks.
• Participants in looksmaxxing communities looking to track grooming and aesthetic changes.
• Individuals wanting private facial assessments without publishing pictures to social media forums.
• People looking for actionable recommendations regarding hairstyles, skincare, and facial hair.

Key features

• In-Browser Landmark Detection: Identifies 478 distinct facial coordinates directly within your web browser so raw image files for the free test never leave your machine.
• Component Metric Breakdown: Calculates four separate geometric sub-scores covering facial harmony, left-right symmetry, structural angularity, and dimorphism.
• Dual Reference Standards: Allows users to evaluate facial features against either male or female aesthetic baselines to tailor dimorphism results.
• Photo Quality Verification: Analyzes input images for proper lighting, blur, face angle, and camera distance to prevent skewed measurements.
• PSL Score Bands: Classifies final values into four distinct ranges, spanning low, mid, high, and top aesthetic categories on a 1 to 8 scale.
• Looksmax In-Depth Report: Provides an optional expanded audit covering side profiles, community tier designations, and potential improvements for skin, hair, and jaw presentation.
• Actionable Improvement Guides: Outlines ranked guidance on grooming, styling, and care habits to help improve overall presentation.

How it works

1. Select your preferred reference baseline between the male and female standards.
2. Confirm age eligibility and consent to proceed with the analysis.
3. Provide a front-facing photograph with neutral expression and balanced lighting in JPG, PNG, WebP, or HEIC format.
4. Review your calculated score out of 8 along with the breakdown of four geometric dimensions and photo quality feedback.
5. Optionally purchase a detailed report using front and side profile images for feature-by-feature advice.

Use cases

An individual exploring style adjustments can evaluate facial symmetry and ratios to decide on a complementary haircut, beard style, or eyewear frame.

A member of an online grooming community can obtain an impartial rating based on consistent mathematical calculations rather than unpredictable peer critiques.

A user testing skincare routines or fitness progress can compare photos over time under similar lighting conditions to evaluate improvements in facial definition.

Pricing

TryPSL operates on a freemium model. The standard PSL test is free and requires no account registration, offering an overall score out of 8, four individual geometry scores, and photo validation metrics. An optional Looksmax Report is available for a one-time payment of $9.90 per report without ongoing subscriptions, which includes front and side photo evaluation, specific feature feedback, and styling suggestions.

FAQ

Is TryPSL free to use?

Yes, the fundamental PSL score test is completely free and does not require an account. An expanded report covering profile angles and grooming recommendations is available for a one-time fee of $9.90.

Does TryPSL store my photo during the free test?

No, the free test keeps your photo on your local device. The software tracks geometric markers in the browser and sends only numerical coordinates to the server to perform calculations.
