Private AI chat and images that run on your iPhone

I built Anvil as a side project because I wanted an AI assistant that keeps my conversations on my own phone. Most AI apps send every message to a server somewhere, and I kept wondering who else could read what I typed. So I tried to see how much of a modern assistant could run on an iPhone by itself, and it turned out to be a lot more than I expected.
Chat runs Gemma 4 E2B right on the iPhone through LiteRT LM. Anvil Core downloads once over WiFi, and after that the app keeps working in Airplane Mode. You can ask questions, brainstorm, rewrite emails, summarize long notes or just talk with it by voice, and nothing you say leaves the phone. There is no account to create, no message limit and no monthly cap on how much you use it.
Anvil Dream is an optional second download. It is an SDXL Lightning variant converted to Core ML, and it makes 1024x1024 images on the Neural Engine right on the phone. You can make as many images as you want, because there is no server bill on my side and no image quota on yours. It works for wallpapers, quick concept art, or just playing around with ideas.
The feature I use most when traveling is sign and menu reading. Point the camera at a train sign, a menu or a label in another language, and Anvil reads the text and translates it on the phone. One of my screenshots shows a Japanese train sign being read and translated with the phone in Airplane Mode, which is exactly the situation where a cloud app fails you.
Anvil also keeps notes, tasks, photos and documents together in one app, so you can ask the assistant about a PDF or a photo you saved and get an answer without uploading anything. Optional web search and iCloud backup are the only parts that ever go online, and you only use them if you want to.
Running models this size on a phone takes real hardware, so Anvil needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer. On those devices the chat feels fast and images come out at full 1024x1024.
Right now Anvil is in a free public beta on TestFlight. Every TestFlight tester gets Anvil Pro free, which unlocks everything in the app. I read all the feedback myself, and tester reports go straight into the next build. If you have a recent iPhone and care about privacy, I would really love for you to try it and tell me what breaks: https://testflight.apple.com/join/5JGCZpxt
Thanks for checking out Anvil. Every tester makes a real difference.
