Right now, my mind feels like my Brave browser: dozens of tabs open, none of them getting my full attention.
One tab has Leetcode. Another has a Go course. A DevOps article waits in the third. Even the books on my shelf seem to stare back, asking when I’ll finally open them.
This is my life: ambitious, restless, distracted :).
I suffer from something called Shiny Object Syndrome. It means I keep jumping from one new thing to another. Every skill looks important. Every project feels exciting. I start many things, but I rarely finish them.
And honestly? It scares me.
Coming from a middle-class background, the fear of wasting my potential feels heavier.
The world around us makes it harder. Social media shows people who seem to have it all figured out. The internet throws endless opportunities in front of us. Our parents had fewer choices, and maybe that made life simpler. We have unlimited choices, and sometimes it feels overwhelming.
Inside me, there’s a constant fight.
Ambition says: “Do more, learn more, chase everything.”
Reality whispers: “Slow down, or you’ll waste it all.”
I don’t have the answer yet. I still get distracted. I still feel afraid that I won’t reach my full potential. But I know this much: I’d rather stumble forward than sit still and waste my chance.
Because maybe the real failure isn’t distraction. Maybe the real failure is never trying at all.
If you feel the same way, know this — you’re not alone. Drop a comment, I’d love to hear your story too. :)
