Every Monday, same ritual.
Open the staging environment. Click through the feature. Start the screen recorder. Mess up on step 3. Start over. Record again. Trim the video. Add annotations. Upload. Paste into the PR. Paste into Slack. Paste into the stakeholder deck.
Five hours. Every. Single. Week.
And I'm not even a slow worker. I'm a Staff PM at a company that ships fast. But "shipping fast" apparently still meant me hunched over Loom at 10pm on a Tuesday, re-recording a 90-second walkthrough because I accidentally scrolled past the button.
The breaking point
One sprint, we shipped 14 PRs. Each one needed a demo for the design review, another for the stakeholder update, and another for the changelog. That's a lot of recordings. I did the math on what my time was costing the company and almost threw up.
I'm a product manager. My job is to decide what to build, not to be a human screen recorder.
The realization
Here's what made me snap: our CI pipeline already deploys a preview for every pull request. The feature is right there, running, clickable. Why am I manually recording what a machine could capture automatically?
So I built the thing I wished existed.
PageBolt is a single API that captures screenshots, generates PDFs, and records full demo videos with AI voice narration, cursor effects, and step-by-step tooltips. You describe the walkthrough. It records it. MP4. Posted to the PR. Done.
But here's where it gets interesting.
The "wait, what?" part
PageBolt ships with an MCP server. That means AI coding assistants like Cursor, Claude Desktop, and Windsurf can call it natively. You can literally tell your AI agent "record a demo of the login flow on the staging URL" and it inspects the page, builds the walkthrough, and records the video. No scripting. No config. The agent just does it.
We also built a GitHub Action that watches your PRs. When a deploy preview goes live, it automatically generates a demo video and posts it as a comment. Every reviewer sees the feature running, not just the diff.
My Monday mornings now:
I review PRs that already have video demos attached. I drop them into the stakeholder deck with one click. I spend zero seconds in a screen recorder.
That 5 hours a week? Gone. Murdered. Buried.
The result
PageBolt isn't a screenshot API. There are plenty of those. It's the capture layer for teams that realized their humans shouldn't be doing robot work.
One API. Screenshots, PDFs, OG images, full demo videos with AI narration. Works from your code, your CI pipeline, and your AI agent.
I built this because I was tired of mass-producing bad Loom recordings at 10pm. If you know that feeling, I'd love for you to give it a try.
