What if every website had a place on the world map?

We’re building a live map where projects publish their website, help their country climb the ranking, and make discovering projects more playful.

What if every website had a place on the world map?

Wouldn’t it be interesting to explore a world map and discover websites, businesses and independent projects created by people in different countries?

That is the idea behind The Map Challenge.

We’re building an interactive world map where a project can choose a country and an exact public location for its website marker. Visitors can then explore the map and discover projects from different parts of the world — including projects located near them.

But we also wanted to make discovery more playful.

Every confirmed website sponsorship gives points to its chosen country. Those points create a live global ranking, small rivalries between countries and a shared mission: eventually place at least one confirmed website sponsor from every country on the map.

The process is simple:

  1. Choose a country and a location.

  2. Add your project name and website.

  3. Complete a one-time sponsorship.

  4. Your website appears on the map and the country gains points.

There is no subscription, and sponsorships start at $5. Exploring the map and discovering projects is free.

The project is still at an early stage. Our current challenge is attracting the first real websites, because every new marker makes the map more useful, more credible and more enjoyable to explore.

We would genuinely appreciate feedback from other makers:

  • Is the concept immediately understandable?

  • Would you explore projects through a world map?

  • What would make you want to put your own website on it?

Explore the project, tell us what is missing and, if it fits your project, put your website on the map:
